Whether you are joining our Sixth Form from another school or you have been with us since year 7, I would like to thank you for choosing Eckington School for the next part of your academic journey.
We are an 11 – 18 school, part of LEAP Multi Academy Trust, and our aim is to achieve excellence. Professional excellence at all levels underpins our approach, and a high quality educational experience is an entitlement for every student. With high expectations, education can transform the lives of students at Eckington School and through them the wider community.
I am enormously proud of our Sixth Form. Our successful young adults are becoming increasingly influential in the school; they are role models for younger students to aspire to and they play an integral part in the life of our school community.
Our excellent Sixth Form team will assist prospective students in selecting the correct courses to match their intended career path, will work closely with them throughout their two years with us, and guide them through the university or apprenticeship application process to ensure they progress successfully into the next phase of their learning. In our most recent inspection, the leadership of the Sixth Form was described as ‘ambitious and strengthening’. Students in our Sixth Form also involve themselves in a full range of additional activities to extend their learning and to improve their CV. The range of non-qualification activities was praised by Ofsted including peer mentoring, Young Enterprise and visits to universities. The number of entrants for top universities and high quality apprenticeships is increasing and it is wonderful to hear the success stories of students graduating and moving on to high quality employment.
This website gives you a glimpse of our rich learning environment and the wealth of opportunities we provide. To see for yourself what the school has to offer, please come along to our Sixth Form Open Evening or make an appointment to visit us.
