We work closely with our local primary schools to ensure that we offer quality transition from KS2 to KS3. Transition activities at Eckington School allow children to familiarise themselves with their new environment, make new friends, meet our staff and have many of their questions answered. In addition, we have a Head start programme to support those who might need a little more help with their move to Year 7.

In the summer term, key staff and students will visit many of our primary schools to develop positive relationships, speak to Year 6 children about what to expect at Eckington School.  At this point primary staff share information about the children coming to Eckington, so that jointly we can best support their transition. The Year 6 information evenings are an opportunity to meet key staff and find out a little more about how you can best support your child’s move to secondary school.

Year 6 Transition – 2022

We are very excited about welcoming our Year 6 children, transferring to us in September 2022.  In March we received the names and details of the students joining us in Year 7.  Since then, we have been working with your child’s primary school to find out about them.  We will visit all our feeder and some non-feeder schools, invite you to one of our information evenings and give our Year 6 students a sample of life at Eckington School during their taster days.

We will keep you informed regarding transition events via email and this section of the school website.  Should your contact details change, please get in touch with our school reception and update them.  This will help us to ensure you do not miss out on vital information.
