Sixth Form Life
Progression and Aspirations
The Sixth Form team strongly believe in raising student aspirations and a lot of our work focuses on ensuring students’ progression is a successful one, whether this be higher education or employment. A rich programme of support and guidance is planned for both year 12 and year 13 throughout the course of their A level study.
Students in Sixth Form are able to use the quiet study centre to work independently and there is a well- equipped common room solely for Sixth Form use.
Sixth Form students are provided with a range of opportunities in all subject areas and experiences at various universities. The application process to university ensures that all year 13 students are fully supported as they find their route into the university that suits their needs.
Excellent higher education outreach opportunities are now available for Year 12 in a range of subject areas at Sheffield and Nottingham Universities including:
- Sheffield Outreach and Access to Medicine Scheme (SOAMS)
- Access to Dental Occupations: Practice and Tutoring (ADOPT)
- Discover Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM)
- Discover Arts
- Discover Law
- Discover Humanities
- Discover Social Sciences
- Ambition Nottingham
We pride ourselves with ensuring all Sixth Form students are given a wide range of opportunities to develop skills outside of the classroom. We want our students to be well-rounded, confident individuals who will contribute positively to the local community. The student leadership team is one example where students can make a difference to the school ensuring the student voice is heard whilst developing crucial leadership skills along the way. There are many more opportunities for students to participate in such as;
- Creative Writing
- Buddy Reading
- Charity Fundraising
- Chinese Language
- Extended Project Qualification
- Mentoring/teacher assistant
- Snack shack
