MP visits Eckington School

MP for North East Derbyshire, Lee Rowley, visited Eckington School in March to discuss education going forward and local issues surrounding the school such as tackling congestion and improving road safety for students.

The introductory meeting was with Andy Riches, CEO, LEAP Multi Academy Trust and Alison Burgess, Principal at Eckington School. Lee also met Head Girl Elyse Olsen, a keen fan of politics and law.

Lee spoke about getting more Eckington students interested in politics, and is keen to come back and hold debates with students and discuss his own journey into politics. Lee offered Eckington students the chance to visit to Westminster on a school trip.

Principal, Alison Burgess said: ‘As a school, we cannot wait to get more involved with Lee’s work. Students would greatly benefit from broadening their political and cultural horizons with a trip to Westminster’.
