Bloodhound Super Sonic Car Roadshow

Eckington students at the

Bloodhound Super Sonic Car Roadshow event

On Thursday 19th November a group of ten intrepid year 8 students attended the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car Roadshow at Chesterfield College.

The students worked in groups of 5 to design and build a model car to race over a 30 metre track, the fastest car winning the chance to have their team name emblazoned on the Bloodhound car when it travels over 1000 miles an hour. The students also had a chance to tour the college science facilities, look around the car itself and visit careers stalls.

The students had a great day and the two teams were the only ones to complete the course with their car model and so came first and second against 11 other Derbyshire competing schools. Since the event have managed to secure both of the team names onto the bloodhound car so some of Eckington School will be part of team travelling at over 1000 miles an hour.
