I’m Mr. Lewis and I’m the Head of House for Ennis-Hill. I’m thrilled to be leading a house which represents everything which is great about sporting excellence, determination and local heroism. Jess Ennis showed us all just what Olympic spirit meant back in the triumphant London Olympics 2012 by winning gold in the heptathlon. She is an inspiration to people all over the world and we’re proud that Jess is from Sheffield and the figurehead of our house.
We may not all excel at every event, be they sporting, academic or artistic, but we can all find something we have a strength in and push ourselves to compete, improve and celebrate our successes together. Just as Jess battles on through seven gruelling events with her own strengths and weaknesses, we can all aim to try and find an event to put ourselves forward for each year, and whilst there may not be the promise of a gold medal, there is the pride of knowing you’ve done something for your house, for the school and for yourself.
If you want to know more about how you can put yourself forward for events or even suggest a new event we could try out this year, then speak to me or one of the house captains and we’ll see what we can do.
Hopefully we can recreate some of Jess’s golden touch and see our house take the top spot on that podium by the end of the year. Come on, that’s the spirit!
