The Eckboteers storm the Regional Round of the LEGO Robotics Challenge

Eckington School’s LEGO robots team, the ‘Eckboteers’, competed in the regional round of the tomorrow’s engineers LEGO robotics challenge in Doncaster in March. The team attended the event in with Mr Gray, Science Teacher and Mr Shelton, Senior Laboratory Technician.

The Eckboteers team are made up of:

Luke D

Jess D

Sam H

Oliver M

Rory M

Madi L

Abi A

Tom M

The competition required students to submit two robots, one for speed and one to carry out a series of challenges. They also had to deliver two presentations to the judges and complete a team-building exercise. The team performed well in both challenges, the design of their robot was second to none!

Our team won first place for the design element of the robot and went on to win overall first place in the regional round of the competition.

Andy Shelton said: ‘the team did an excellent job. It was a stand-out performance in a very competitive field. ‘

The overall win saw the team gain a place in the final of Tomorrow’s Engineers Big Bang Fair on Friday, 15th March at the NEC Birmingham.

Mr Gray said ‘the team were fantastic all day. Well done team Eckboteers, we couldn’t be more proud of you!’

Good Luck for the finals!
