Students working on computers in the Design and Technology department

Design and Technology is a critical area of study for all our students. Design situations are developed around practical problems. Students learn to generate ideas, evaluate and then develop them further, before manufacturing quality end products.

Students are given the opportunity to use CAD design tools as well as being taught of new technological developments in manufacture such as CAM, smart materials and electronic components.

Students are given a grounding at key stage 3 in order to prepare them for GCSE level study in the following areas:

  • Food and Nutrition
  • Graphic Products
  • Resistant Materials
  • Textiles Technology
